PM Modi Holds Conversation with President of Tanzania, Highlights Importance of Traditional Friendly Ties

On June 12th,2020, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi held a phone conversation with Dr. John Pombe Joseph Magufuli, President of the United Republic of Tanzania. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi recalled his July 2016 visit to Dar-es-Salaam and highlighted the importance that India attaches to its traditionally friendly ties with Tanzania. Besides, Prime Minister restated Indiaโ€™s commitment to partnering with Tanzania in its development journey; as per the aim and needs of the Tanzanian government and people.

Notably, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi acknowledged President Dr. Magufuli for the corporation provided by the Tanzanian authorities; for the evacuation of Indian citizens from Tanzania owing to COVID-19. The dignitaries analyzed the global mutual relationship. Both dignitaries expressed satisfaction at the growing development partnership, educational linkages, and trade and investment flow between India and Tanzania. Also, the leaders discussed possibilities of expanding these trends. Conclusively, Prime Minister conveyed his courtesiesย to President Dr. Magufuli and the people of Tanzania for the upcoming Presidential and Parliamentary elections in the country later this year.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi held India-Australiaย Virtual Summit with Prime Minister Mr. Scott Morrison; to discuss the ongoing COVID-19 including facilitation and support for citizens stranded in each otherโ€™s country. Most recently, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi also held a telephonic conversation with President of the Philippines, His Excellency Rodrigo Duterte to address the challenges arising out of the COVID-19ย pandemic.
