Delhi-Noida Borders To Remain Sealed Amid COVID Lockdown

In view of the increase in the number of COVID infected, the Gautam Buddha Nagar District Magistrate Suhas L.Y. sealed the Delhi-Noida borders. In effect, only the people deployed in essential services will be allowed to commute; and those who were issued passes by the administration. Suhas L.Yย  desired instructions from the State government as well; with regard to the implementation of Point 3(1) and 7(12) of Government of the Home department.

In April 2020, the district sealed its Delhi-Noida borders; after several novel coronavirus cases in Gautam Buddha Nagar were found to have links with Delhi. Explicitly, amid the phase IV of the COVID lockdown; people with valid passes stand allowed to exit and enter the state from the national capital. As per the guidelines, the Delhi-Noida borders will remain sealed. However, from May 18th, 2020, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs authorized interstate travel.

Earlier on Monday, the Uttar Pradesh government issued fresh guidelines; for the fourth phase of the coronavirus lockdown till May 31, 2020. Notably, the Uttar Pradesh government announced relaxations in the nationwide lockdown. Conclusively, the lockdown 4.0, began May 18, 2020, and will continue till May 31, 2020. Currently, the state of Uttar Pradesh has over 4200 confirmed cases of COVID-19 infected; whereas in Noida, the number of cases exceeds 200.
