Congress Demands Judicial Probe into “Mysterious” Deaths at Goa Medical College’s Isolation Wards

The death of former Congress MLA Jitendra Deshprabhu has raised many questions. After a senior doctor was suspended for allegedly delaying the treatment of Deshprabhu. The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar demanded aย  judicial probe into Deshprabhu’s death. Moreover, Congress Party sought the applicability of the same norms on Deshprabhu; which stand applicable for the deaths of coronavirus suspects.

“Nothing has changed in GMC as another death was reported there yesterday which was similar to Jitendra Deshprabhu’s death. The government must immediately order impartial judicial enquiry to investigate the mysterious deaths of some patients in the COVID-19 isolation ward since lockdown was announced. How GMC can make enquires about itself?” questioned Chodankar. He further said that the state government should stop any attempts to save the doctor; related to a BJP leader’s family facing inquiry for negligence in duty.

Chodankar also questioned the Chief Minister and Health Minister; about the applicability of all the protocols and globally laid down procedures on deaths by COVID-19. He demanded an explanation from the GMC Authorities; as to people with respiratory illness are “mysteriously” dying soon after they enter the GMC. He asked for information on the treatment and services offered to such patients. However, no concrete proof has yet been found.
